Source water: Two aquifers three hundred feet apart, plus bought in water. The authority's own wells reach between 100 and 400 feet into two distinct formations of the Potomac Raritan Magothy system, the shallower Old Bridge sands at around 100 feet and the deeper Farrington sands at around 400. The state assessment records ten wells alongside four purchased groundwater sources and one purchased surface source. Total supply runs about 6.5 million gallons a day, roughly 3.5 from the authority's own facilities and 3 purchased from Middlesex Water Company. The authority sells about 600,000 gallons a day on to Aberdeen and holds emergency interconnections with Perth Amboy and Marlboro. Both arrive through the same mains in Old Bridge, in a ratio the authority sets by operational need.
