Installation service
Repair, any brand
Diagnosis and repair of existing equipment, including systems we did not install and brands we do not sell. Where a unit is not worth repairing we will say so.
Any brand, including ones we do not sell
We repair equipment we did not install and brands we have no relationship with. A great deal of what we see is a system fitted by someone no longer trading, with no paperwork and no service history.
Bring us whatever you have. A model number on a label is ideal. A photograph of the unit and its control head is usually enough for us to identify it and check parts availability before the visit.
Where parts are genuinely unavailable, which happens with older proprietary systems, we will say so rather than improvising a repair that fails again in six months.
The faults we see most
Control valves on softeners, where the seals and spacers wear and the unit either stops regenerating or regenerates continuously. That is usually a rebuild kit rather than a new softener.
Leaking compression fittings on reverse osmosis systems, most often at the drain saddle or the tap connection, and almost always a fitting that was never quite seated rather than a component failure.
Waterlogged or failed pressure tanks on RO systems, which present as a trickle from the tap and get misdiagnosed as a dead membrane surprisingly often.
UV systems with a failed ballast, or a sleeve so coated with iron that the lamp cannot reach the water.
When we recommend not repairing
Sometimes the honest answer is that the equipment is not worth the parts. A fifteen year old softener needing a control valve rebuild and a resin replacement is close to the cost of a new unit with a warranty, and we will show you both numbers rather than only the one that suits us.
Sometimes the equipment is working correctly and was simply the wrong specification. A system fitted against the wrong problem will keep disappointing regardless of how well it is maintained, and the useful conversation there is about what the water actually needs.
We would rather lose a repair than take payment for work that leaves you where you started.
What we need in place
These are checked at the survey rather than discovered on the day. Where something is missing it changes the scope, and we would rather price that honestly up front.
- The make and model where you have it
- Access to the equipment and its shutoff
Typical duration. 1 to 3 hours
Equipment this covers
- Whole-house filtration. A filter plumbed into the main line where water enters the building, so every tap, shower, and appliance downstream is fed treated water.
- Water softeners. An ion exchange system that swaps calcium and magnesium for sodium or potassium, which is the only method that actually removes hardness minerals from the water.
- Reverse osmosis, tank. A membrane system under the sink that produces treated water to a dedicated tap and stores it in a small pressure tank.
- Ultraviolet disinfection. A lamp that inactivates bacteria, viruses, and protozoa as water passes through.

Common questions
Will you work on a system you did not install?
Yes, including brands we do not sell and systems fitted by companies no longer trading. A lot of what we see has no paperwork and no service history. Send us a photograph of the unit and its control head, or the model number from the label, and we will identify it and check parts availability before the visit rather than after.
How do I know whether it is worth repairing?
We will show you both numbers. A fifteen year old softener needing a control valve rebuild and new resin comes close to the cost of a new unit with a warranty, and we would rather you saw that comparison than only the quote that suits us. Sometimes the equipment is working correctly and was simply the wrong specification, in which case repairing it changes nothing.
My water tastes fine but the system seems to be running constantly. Is that a fault?
Probably. A softener that regenerates continuously usually has worn seals and spacers in the control valve, and it is wasting salt and water while it does it. A reverse osmosis system that runs to drain constantly often has a failed check valve or shut-off valve. Both are repairable and both quietly cost money every day they are left, so they are worth calling about even when the water seems fine.

Where we work
We cover New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York. Because water quality is a local fact, our service area pages carry the utility, source water, treatment method, and reported contaminants for each town, with the report they came from and the year it covers.
