Emergency water treatment repair
Same-day attendance for a water treatment failure that is actively causing damage or has cut off usable water. Not a general repair queue and not a plumbing service.
What counts as an emergency
A leak from the equipment or its fittings that is putting water into the building. A softener or filter housing that has split. A system that has failed closed and left the property with no usable water. On a private well, a failed ultraviolet lamp or a disinfection system that has stopped while the household is still drinking the water.
Those are the situations where waiting costs more than the call. Everything else is a repair, and a repair booked for tomorrow morning is cheaper than an emergency attendance tonight for the same work.
We will tell you which of the two you have when you describe it. If it can wait, we will say so rather than charge you for urgency you do not need.
What is not an emergency, and what to do instead
Water that tastes or smells wrong is not an emergency. It is unpleasant and it is worth solving, but it can be booked normally. The same goes for a cartridge that is overdue, a softener that has stopped regenerating, and a drop in pressure that has come on gradually.
A burst pipe that is not part of the treatment equipment is a plumbing emergency rather than ours, and a licensed plumber will reach you faster. If you are not sure which you have, the test is whether the water is coming from the treatment system or from the building's pipework.
If a boil water notice has been issued for your area, that is the utility's process and equipment at the property will not change the advice. Follow the notice.
The first thing to do before calling anyone
Find the main shutoff and close it. Almost every emergency in this category is made smaller by stopping the water, and most properties have a valve at the meter and often a second one at the equipment itself. Knowing where they are before you need them is the single most useful piece of preparation a homeowner can do.
If the treatment system has its own bypass, use it. A bypass takes the equipment out of the loop and restores supply to the building while leaving the failed unit isolated, which turns an emergency into an ordinary appointment.
Photograph what has happened before anything is cleaned up. If there is an insurance claim in this, the photographs taken in the first ten minutes are worth more than anything taken later.
What we will and will not promise
We will attend the same day where we can reach you and the situation genuinely warrants it. We will tell you honestly when we cannot, so you can call someone who can rather than waiting on us.
We will not quote a fixed response time on this page. A stated window we cannot hold in bad weather or at volume is worse than no window at all, and this is exactly the promise that generates complaints in this trade. Ask when you call and we will give you a real answer for that day.
Where the failed unit is not worth repairing we will say so at the visit rather than fitting parts into something that will fail again. That conversation is easier to have in person with the equipment open.

Equipment this covers
- Whole-house filtration. A filter plumbed into the main line where water enters the building, so every tap, shower, and appliance downstream is fed treated water.
- Water softeners. An ion exchange system that swaps calcium and magnesium for sodium or potassium, which is the only method that actually removes hardness minerals from the water.
- Reverse osmosis, tank. A membrane system under the sink that produces treated water to a dedicated tap and stores it in a small pressure tank.
- Ultraviolet disinfection. A lamp that inactivates bacteria, viruses, and protozoa as water passes through.

Common questions
My water softener is leaking. Do I need an emergency visit or can it wait?
Shut the water off or put the unit into bypass, then decide. Once the water is stopped, a leaking softener is no longer causing damage and the job becomes an ordinary appointment, usually at lower cost. The reason to call urgently is if you cannot stop the water, if the leak is into a finished space or near electrics, or if bypassing the unit leaves the property without usable supply.
Is emergency repair more expensive?
Yes, and it should be, because it displaces other work. That is the honest reason to establish first whether you have an emergency or a repair. In our experience most calls described as emergencies become ordinary appointments the moment the water is shut off, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than charge you for the difference.
Do you handle burst pipes and general plumbing emergencies?
No. We work on water treatment equipment. A burst supply pipe, a failed water heater or a blocked drain is a plumber's job and a plumber will reach you sooner. If the failure is in the treatment system or its fittings, that is ours. If you describe what has happened we will tell you which it is rather than sending someone who cannot help.
