Licensing
What each state requires, and exactly where we currently hold registration. We do not advertise into a state before its registration is in place.
Why some service areas are not published
Each of the four states we intend to cover treats advertising as a regulated act for home improvement contractors. A local service page is an advertisement. So a state's area pages are built only once its registration details are recorded in our site configuration, and until then that state stays unpublished rather than appearing with a placeholder.
This is enforced in the build rather than by policy. The site will not generate pages for a state whose licence fields are empty.
State by state
New Jersey
New Jersey requires home improvement contractors to register with the Division of Consumer Affairs and to display the registration number in advertising. Plumbing work is separately reserved to licensed plumbers under the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers.
Status. Not yet published. 39 areas are prepared and will go live once registration is recorded.
Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania requires registration under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, and the registration number must appear in advertising and on contracts. Plumbing licensing in Pennsylvania is handled locally rather than at state level, so requirements differ by municipality.

Connecticut
Connecticut requires Home Improvement Contractor registration with the Department of Consumer Protection, and the registration number must appear in advertising. Plumbing work is licensed separately by the state.

New York
New York licenses home improvement work at city and county level rather than statewide.
Work in the five boroughs requires a New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection Home Improvement Contractor licence. Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, and Rockland counties each operate their own licensing. Plumbing is licensed separately in each jurisdiction.

Sub-jurisdiction licences
None recorded yet. New York City and several New York counties license home improvement work separately from the state, so a page for a borough or for one of those counties requires its own entry here as well as the state position above.
Insurance
Insurance details are published here once recorded. Where a building or board requires a certificate naming it as additional insured, ask us before booking so the paperwork is in place ahead of the alteration approval.
Plumbing work
Plumbing is licensed separately from home improvement in every state we cover, and work on a main line is permitted in some municipalities and not others. Where a permit is required it generally has to be pulled by a licensed plumber. We confirm the position with the local authority for your address before scheduling rather than assuming it from a neighbouring town.
Well construction, casing repair, and pump work are a separate trade again, with their own licensing in each state. We install treatment downstream of the pressure tank and refer well work to a licensed well contractor.
